ALBANY -- The two largest utilities in the Capital Region generally gave themselves good grades for their response to the December ice storm that knocked out power to 300,000 customers.
National Grid and New York State Electric & Gas included the self-assessment in mandatory reports filed Wednesday with the state Public Service Commission.
Much of the devastation that occurred overnight on Dec. 11 was due to ice buildup that reached more than an inch on tree branches in some towns, along with wind gusts reaching 40 miles per hour.
