NT: First Adelaide-Darwin train due to reach final destination
DARWIN, Jan 17 AAP - The first train on the new Adelaide-Darwin railway is due to reach
its final destination of Darwin amid much fanfare today.
Thousands of locals are expected to turn out to meet the historic first train when
it pulls into Darwin's Port at 1.30pm (CST) today.
The 1.2 km FreightLink freight train, which left Adelaide on Thursday, is the first
to travel on the $1.3 billion, 3000 km line.
It will also be greeted in Darwin with a flypast of three RAAF F/A-18 Hornets as part
of four hours of community …
