NSW:Moree isolated by flooding, says SES

SYDNEY, Feb 3 AAP - Moree in northern NSW has been cut off by floodwaters, isolating
up to 10,000 people, the State Emergency Service (SES) says.

The Mehi River on Friday morning peaked at levels not seen since 1976, cutting the
town in two and flooding some businesses in the CBD. The river reached 10.69 metres at
10.15am (AEDT).

The scene at the town was more like Venice than rural NSW, with surrounding areas turned
into "an inland sea", said Premier Barry O'Farrell.
