Eagle Lands Langer Title // Beck, Forsman Falter Down Stretch

AUGUSTA, Ga. Germany's Bernhard Langer started Sunday with thebiggest third-round lead at the Masters in 13 years.

But his victory in the 57th Masters wasn't assured until hiseagle putt plopped in the cup at No. 13.

Even then, Langer wasn't sure his second Masters crown was safe.

Dan Forsman, who had pulled within one stroke of Langer afterseven holes, eliminated himself with a quadruple-bogey seven at No.12, and Highland Park's Chip Beck rejected a big gamble by laying upat the par-5 15th.
